Axis Dissolved: The Dome Before Meaning. I wanted the viewer to experience Rational Infinity. I used the Vertical Axis in dissolution because certainty here must be felt as a vanishing trace — enough to calm the breath without fixing a measure. I placed two figures in the same hemispherical vault so Timelessness reveals how one curve holds both cosmos and womb, the same form producing opposite states. Here the vault’s neutral palette and shadowless materials let geometry be the proof, not its decoration.
I hold one curve; you supply its size. Breathe once — the axis arrives, then fades.

Polaroid transfer, chemical blooms, cyan and sepia, partial overexposure:  
An interior, photographic view of a 22m hemispherical dome rendered as if made of compressed air—its surface detected only by the optical bending of light, not by physical material. Camera low to the ground, off-center, angled upward and slightly right of the dome’s axis, so the 3m oculus is uncentered and glows as a soft-edged, diffused ellipse at the apex. In the foreground, a sharply focused bronze datum disc—satin-matte, with visible machining rings, and a hairline graphite seam marking the horizon, both rendered with the tactile fidelity of macro lens detail. The midground features two human figures: one upright, squared toward the axis in a charcoal wool coat, the other leaning against the insubstantial dome base, near the periphery.  
The axis drift column, a filamentous vertical wisp of cool fog, stretches from disc to oculus, periodically tightening in sync with the standing figure’s breath, its pale cyan filaments rippling with chemical bloom artifacts. The atmosphere thickens paradoxically upward: chemical haze accumulates at the zenith, so the top of the dome arcs into a visually dense, almost milky occlusion.  
Background: the dome’s “surface” appears only as thermal shimmer—no stone, no visible substance—just a curvature where cyan edges bloom, and the partial overexposure at the apex dissolves material identity. Across one expanse, a wide gold mosaic band curves along the vault—each tiny tessera angled minutely, catching the upward-pooling light; under the chemical bloom, this arc appears almost as a strand of amber fireflies, the vault’s gold emitting light from within, not reflecting it.  
A floating phantom halo—an equilibrium annulus of pale light—hovers above the fog column and shifts in synchronization with the overexposed oculus. As focus drifts, the graphite horizon seam flickers between razor-sharp and soft bleed, modulating with the viewer’s gaze and the dome’s press
