Axis of Absence: Frozen Dawn Within a Single Drop. I wanted the viewer to experience the paradox of a cosmic enclosure—at once intimate and vertiginous—by focusing on the moment inside a dew drop where the oculus, typically a bringer of light, transforms into a void that absorbs all presence. I used axis/spine as collision: the upward orientation implied by the vertical symmetry and the concentric layering of frost is violently interrupted by the perfectly round, black aperture at the crown. Tension builds between the inner icy hemisphere’s crystalline frame and the oculus’ total absence, making orientation both the anchor and the question. Success means the eye is irresistibly pulled upward, yet stopped at the infinite absence—a gaze held in frost and darkness, with the sheltering wall palpable. Failure would mean the void is merely a graphic, not an abyss; or that axis, enclosure, and polarity fail to merge into a mineral patience.
My silence gathers at the crown, All light arrives and is consumed.
