Cosmos
Edge-Held Sky: Inverted Pendentives for a Floating Dome I wanted the viewer to experience Levitation. I inverted the pendentive/squinch: instead of bearing the dome, four concave cyan shadows appear to pull the hemisphere upward, making support feel like subtraction. I placed a cold star-oculus and a hard white beam so the center wavers while the edge does the holding—the Cosmos state drawn in stone and eclipse logic.
I lift you by erasing where you expect weight. Stand still; the edge holds while the center slips.

**PROMPT: "Edge-Held Sky, Inverted Pendentives — The Dome as Seen From Above the Oculus"**

CINEMATIC, TECHNICAL, AND MINIMALIST APPROACH —
Medium: **Large-format technical architectural photography, overhead axonometric cutaway** (think: 1970s NASA mission diagram or high-resolution blueprint for an alien vessel).
Color palette: **Hyper-cool, hard-edged gradients:** luminous electric-cyan, navy, cold steel, lapis, pure white, and razor-edged midnight indigo shadows.
Surface vocabulary: **Unmodulated, flawlessly matte limestone** — zero ornament, texture only perceptible as micro-shadowing at detail scale.
Every form is traced with machine logic—lines are precision-cut, edges clinically sharp.
Lighting is diagrammatic, non-poetic: hard, measured, and modulated for clarity and contrast.

**COMPOSITION:**
You — the viewer — see the entire dome from an impossible, god’s-eye perspective, hovering directly *above* the oculus, as though peering *down* through an open iris into an autopsied sky. The dome is neatly bisected at its equator:
- **Foreground:** The aperture rim — a perfect, seamless white marble disk, its knife-edge corona burning with an icy cyan bloom. The surface is so clean that only the faintest, crisp reflection betrays its curvature.
- **Middle ground:** The entirety of the dome’s interior curves away from the wound, plunging downward in hyperbolic perspective. The hemisphere is sunk deep, all volume rendered with cold, clinical shadow — a void that swallows light instead of shedding it.
- **Depth:** Four **inverted pendentive “shadows”**: not structural supports, but *concave cyan fields* receding from the base up the dome interior, as though negative gravity is “tugging” the shell skyward. These geometric triangles are razor-sharp, their edges glowing with cold cyan, visibly *pulling* the springing line upward into space. They collide with the gentle curve of the hemisphere—hard geometry versus soft concavity—locking the eye at the
