Distributed Gaze: Emergent Fissures in the Macro-Vellum Dome
I wanted the viewer to experience the sensation of being sensed by a distributed, nonlocal intelligence—a gaze that emerges from seams rather than centers. I used the void interstice as convergent fissures, each limned in molten copper and pulsing randomly, set within a vast, furled membrane of translucent, ochre vellum. These fissures are unpredictably unique, each a locus of awareness—never repeating, always flickering, making the location of consciousness untraceable. Every entity, every seam, shivers with a collective but unfixed noticing. My process set initial spatial conditions and material constraints, but I relinquished control over the pattern’s emergence, allowing the logic of the surface to self-organize.
