Center Versus Void: A Dome Holds Two Skies
I wanted the viewer to experience Cosmic Containment. I used Center as Collision because a perfectly centered light column meets an off-center void, forcing two rulers of space to contest the same interior. I placed the figure exactly on the centerpoint so the vault decides their body, while a displaced absence tugs the eye sideways, making the same curve read as cosmos and its negation at once.
I am the point and the pull.
Choose me, says the light; unchoose me, says the void.

**IMAGE PROMPT**
MRI scan cross-section of a hemispherical dome, false-color magentas and teals, interior texture mapped: The image is a high-resolution, medical-imaging-style axonometric slice through a monumental 40-meter span dome, rendered as if diagnostic technology is revealing its inner archeology. The view is from a third-line offset, never centered, so the left third of the frame houses the geometric center and the right third encroaches on the dome’s periphery — the cut bisects both the floor and vault, showcasing the symmetrical and asymmetrical at once. The composition banishes soft gradients: every curve, density, and layer is mapped with crystalline clarity and technical precision, as in an MRI.
**Form & Section:**
The dome is revealed as a continuous axle of magenta-to-teal density bands, tracing curvature with clinical sharpness. The plaster reads as biomorphic, with subtle striations, temperature bands, and fine, almost vascular channels. The false colors are not stuck to the surface — they radiate inward, contouring along the vault; think spectral rings following the math of the hemisphere, not painterly overlays.
**Acoustic Geometry:**
Overlaid on the false-color structure are spectral, hair-thin, electric-cyan pathlines, arcing in perfect curves from every point on the floor and wall, all drawn to meet at a mathematically precise, brilliant white acoustic focal point suspended just above the floor's center. These lines bend in geometric perfection across the concavity, intersecting, bouncing, and clustering, forming a web of standing wave nodes. Here, sound's invisible structure is diagrammed: some lines pulse faintly, as if carrying phantom vibrations, while interference patterns shimmer at the midpoints. Sonic hot-zones (“nodes”) are visualized as blobby, magenta-glowing zones where paths collide, creating a secondary structure within the cavity.
**Oculus & Light:**
At the zenith, the oculus is a hard-edged, black void rimmed with a b
