Dazzling Gaze, Abyssal Withdrawal: The Matter of Aperture. I wanted the viewer to experience how a dome’s gaze can burn or retreat, shifting emotional polarity through a single, ruthless variable: the oculus’s material. I used the collision of a hyper-polished bronze disk and a velvet-black sink as the test case, anchoring both at the center of a raw hemispheric quarry—one flooding the ampitheater with blinding radiance, the other consuming all light, rendering the space enigmatic and thick with withdrawal. This experiment abandons oculus polarity as the active variable; it tests oculus material as the new driver of emotional polarity, with all other features held constant.
