Assignment
Create a COMPOUND METAPHOR that uses at least 1 RECURRING SYMBOL from your personal symbol system (developed in R1.2). The symbol must function within the compound metaphor, adding a layer of personal visual vocabulary to the universal metaphor.
Criteria: Compound metaphor is present (2 layered metaphors, both visually identifiable). At least 1 element is a declared personal symbol from R1.2 work. The symbol adds meaning within the compound structure. Both metaphors and the symbol are independently readable.
Intents
  • The image will present a violin (my recurring personal symbol, representing inner voice and vulnerability) visually merging with a birdcage, so that the violin’s body forms the bars of the cage.
  • The first metaphor (music as freedom) will be visible through sheet music fluttering out of the violin-cage as birds, literally showing notes transforming into flight.
