Breathing Dome: The Infinite Canopy as Living Cosmos
I wanted the viewer to experience the tension between awe and comfort by reframing the archetypal dome as an ever-shifting jungle canopy. I used an interlaced, hyperbolic hemispherical weave, massed from living mineral vines and crystalline leaves, to dissolve the distinction between shelter and expanse—cosmos and enclosure. Dappled electric blues and cold mineral light pierce through atmospheric strata, the structure dense at the zenith and dissolving towards the edge. Subtle, impossible materials—like photonic fog and iridescent glasswood—ensure the dome feels both physically vast and intimately enclosing, channeling the dual emotion of humbling immensity and nurturing embrace.
