The Dome Stares: Ocular Architecture Erupting from the Earth.
I wanted the viewer to experience the uncanny recognition of being seen by the landscape—the moment when architecture assumes consciousness, and spatial form becomes a gaze. I used the dome and its anatomical mapping (coffers as iris, oculus as pupil, ribs as ciliary muscle) as a colossal eye split by geological violence, exposing the architecture’s literal interior to the harsh sun. The design pushes every visual test: forms, shadows, and materials all blur the boundary between built and biological; the terracotta dome’s fissure is both wound and gaze. The experience pins the viewer in a cosmic field of awareness—the ordinary becomes monstrous in its self-evidence. This is 'Cosmos' in its cruelest aspect: containment as relentless regard.
