Chimney to the Cold Star Within
I wanted the viewer to experience Prayerful Burning — the soul as an updraft becoming geometry. I used the ray/rib primitive in isolation: meridian lines and a single zenithal corona, stripped of all context, so every vector accelerates upward. I kept the palette glacial and stellar, letting tears well from cold luminance rather than heat, so yearning reads as blue fire aimed at a dark, absolute apex.
I rise where the cold gathers.
Your breath becomes a line toward me.

**Interior, monumental dome — photographed from ground level, inside, off-center, wide-angle perspective. The viewer stands at the cold slate floor, gaze drawn steeply upward and slightly left of center, creating dynamic spatial tension between immediate flank and distant apex.**
The dome’s shell is seamless, mathematically perfect catenary hemisphere, diameter no less than 30 meters, surfaced in basaltic stone, micro-fluted along 24 vertical meridian ribs. Each rib is sharply edged, slicked with a 10mm saline film, scattered with lenslike saline beads that catch the cold, hard light — tactile, mineral, not digital. The stone is dusted with mica: micro-sparkles reveal crisp fluting in the raking light. The scale reads viscerally — ribs appear monumental near the base, receding with brutal foreshortening toward the zenith, which pushes beyond the lens’s focal reach. No boundaries between wall and floor: curvature flows continuously, dissolving planar reference.
**Light:**
The only source: a small oculus eclipse at the zenith — a velvet-black pupil, rimmed by a blazing blue-white plasma corona, like a welding arc breathing in cycles. From this corona, a pencil-thin, electric-cold shaft of light hauls a streaming column of suspended motes (salt particles, ice, silvered dust) vertically downward. The column is hard-edged, high-contrast; motes spiral and accelerate within it, forming visible standing waves — each node tighter at the apex, stretched at the base, visibly synchronized with the corona’s pulse.
**Acoustic Geometry:**
Layered over the stone, an ultra-thin array of **transparent glass helical ribbons** track each rib, twisting upward in perfect synchronicity. These 4mm-wide helices tremble with visible acoust
