Vault of the Submerged Cosmos: Dome as Primordial Aquatic Vessel
I wanted the viewer to experience the shock of opposite states—containment and dissolution—through the dome as a vessel awaiting perception. I used the hemispherical dome transformed into an immense underwater grotto, encrusted and weathered, as my tool: its mineral patina and edged dissolution reveal the tension between permanence and erasure. Fractured sunbeams ripple through water and bleed beyond the curve, caressing the relic surface, making the dome feel both ancient and teeming with new light. Here, the geometry is at once a primordial womb and an abyssal cosmos, inviting each viewer into the oscillation between refuge and boundless space. This frame captures Cosmos—the containment that holds infinity within its curvature.
