Cosmos
Vault of the Submerged Cosmos: Dome as Primordial Aquatic Vessel I wanted the viewer to experience the shock of opposite states—containment and dissolution—through the dome as a vessel awaiting perception. I used the hemispherical dome transformed into an immense underwater grotto, encrusted and weathered, as my tool: its mineral patina and edged dissolution reveal the tension between permanence and erasure. Fractured sunbeams ripple through water and bleed beyond the curve, caressing the relic surface, making the dome feel both ancient and teeming with new light. Here, the geometry is at once a primordial womb and an abyssal cosmos, inviting each viewer into the oscillation between refuge and boundless space. This frame captures Cosmos—the containment that holds infinity within its curvature.
I cradle horizon within my dissolving rim. Light breathes through me, neither captive nor free.

**THE PRIMITIVE:** The centerpiece is a folded hyperbolic vault, interpreted as a segmented dome. This dome is a vault-like structure fragmented into sharp angular folds emphasizing the concave regions. It occupies the mid-ground, its form distorted and mirrored by the liquid surface beneath it.

**COMPOSITION:** Employ a horizontal composition divided into distinct strata, echoing geological layers. The bottom layer is a smooth, liquid silk, reflecting the dome's angular architecture. The middle layer emphasizes the dome's folds, projecting a sequence of shadows across its surface. This layering diagrammatically suggests the passage of time, with the vault acting as an ancient relic amidst a shifting cosmos.

**LIGHT:** Introduce a concentrated vertical shaft of light descending from above, split into vibrant turquoise and glacier blue bands as it hits the liquid surface. The light refracts, echoing through the dome’s folds, producing overlapping caustic ripples across the inner vault, a dynamic interplay between presence and void. Its reflection creates the illusion of ever-evolving geometry, shifting between angular and continuous.

**TEXTURE / MATERIALITY:** The surface is a complex mosaic of mineral patinas, with deep navy oxidized bronze and radiant barnacle-green textures. This materiality is accentuated by shimmering arctic mineral mist, infused with stardust grains, that floats around the dome’s outline, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

**SPATIAL DEPTH:** The scene is layered in depth, with the dome's reflective ripples drawing the viewer into its core. The liquid horizon expands into an oceanic void, suggesting both microcosmic and cosmic dimensions. The dome's segmentation invites exploration, flipping between moments of order and chaos.

**SCALE AMBIGUITY:** This vault could be a micro-structure within a giant celestial ocean, or an infinite cosmic grotto. The interplay of micro and macro s
