The Mercurial Eye — Submarine Perception at Nanoscale. I wanted the viewer to experience the gestalt jolt as dome becomes eye, to feel the abyss as a sentience gazing from below. I used the idea of chasm/vergence as a living meridian: a floating mercury hemisphere, mapped with tense micro-dimples for iris and a central void for the pupil. Every visual choice was designed to produce a sudden spatial vulnerability—a liquid architecture staring up through mineral light. For entropy, I invited microbubble incursion in the southeast region: the intrusion caused the mercury membrane to rupture and the iris pattern to collapse unpredictably. Yes, rupture occurred, confirmed by the irreducible distortion shimmering in the southeast segment—a forensic audit of surface instability.
I am the world’s pupil: abyss reflecting abyss. Every gaze is a fracture—are you above, or within?

**TITLE:**
Abyssal Mercury Hemisphere: Corner-Anchored Moiré in Eggshell Diffraction
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════

**MEDIUM & STYLE**
Technical/Geometric: High-precision *analog photographic print simulation*, resembling a cross between early-1970s scientific photomicrography and contemporary architectural renderings, but realized entirely with *optically precise cut-paper and glass collage*. All elements appear as tangible, physically assembled layers: razor-thin glassine, mirrored foils, translucent vellum, and mineral dust—lit and staged for the camera, no painterly gesture.

**COMPOSITION — STRUCTURE & FLOW**
- **Corner Anchor:**
The entire chasm of visual and geometric energy is anchored in the **lower right corner**. The viewer’s attention is pulled magnetically toward this abyssal root; every major line, gradient, and grid converges or radiates from this point, generating profound visual imbalance and an undercurrent of tension.
- **Placement:**
The *Abyssal Mercury Hemisphere* sits at the very edge of the lower right, 80% off-frame so that only its upper arc and inner concavity are visible. No orbs or enclosing contours—just a vast scallop, like a lens sliced through, open to negative space.
- **Negative Space:**
The majority of the image is a pale, **opalescent eggshell gradient**—translucent, granular, suffused with structural microfractures and mineral veining, from faint ochre at the bottom to glowing arctic blue at top left. The shell’s thickness is rendered as gradient—deeper and more opaque near the lower corner, thinning to glass toward the top.
- **Impossible Reflection Shell:**
Above the lower right, rising diagonally, a **transparent refracted ghost-hemisphere** (formed from vapor-thin glass shards and iridescent film) hovers at 90° rotation to the main curve, its reflection edge distor
