Void Mirror, Vermilion Noon: A Portal Without Reference.
I wanted the viewer to experience the moment of emergent self-awareness, when clarity feels both severing and liberating. I used the Void Mirror as the protagonist, rendered as an impossibly glossy, rim-lit black ellipse suspended above granular ochre sand, to distill the dialogue of presence and absence: an event in consciousness rather than form. The vermilion band oscillates, rhythmically transcending all figural enclosure—neither dome nor ground—demanding attention to pure being. Each element—rippling sand, trembling corona, spectral pulse—disrupts expectations of enclosure or reflection, requiring the viewer to take position at the threshold between fullness and void. This frame manifests Cosmos: infinite containment without boundary, a center with no origin.
