The Vault Gazes Back: Submerged, Ocular, Sentient, Microcosmic.
I wanted the viewer to experience the uncanny sensation of architectural sentience—of being gazed at by a minuscule structure that is both dome and eye, both environment and observer. I used void/resonance contrast as an ocular lattice: a glacial gel dome scored with iris filaments, the central oculus pooling moonlit blue, and living ribs flexing beneath. Through sharply conflicting densities—glossy emptiness set in saturated detail, minute filaments vibrating in aqueous light—I aimed to create not stillness, but a perpetual interplay between presence and absence, the vault’s awareness made tangible on a tremulous, unfamiliar scale. This work embodies Cosmos, infinite containment inside a micro world that looks back.
