Matter dissolved into the vibration of light and shadow. The dome is made of light that has learned to hold a shape.
Cyanotype print on rough handmade paper, indigo and bone white, fractured hemisphere: An immense dome interior so vast its curvature nearly disappears, horizonless and disorienting—composition off-center, the “camera” low and angled obliquely upward, never aligned to any axis, with the vertical shaft of a bright, bone-white oculus (star-disk) punching down from the upper right power-point of the frame. The dome’s surface is fragmented and ambiguous, built from interlocking mirror-shard facets rendered as jagged white negative spaces; some are sharp-edged, others dissolve into soft, cyanotype washes that bleed into the textured paper grain, blurring figure and ground. Across this fractured vault, arcs and pulsing spiral bands—electric indigo and cold cyan—radiate out from the oculus, some crisp, some ghosting as faint impressions in the rough paper fibers. A single geometric fissure rends the hemisphere—an obsidian-black slash, rimmed in blue-white, running from the lower left foreground up to intercept the vertical light column, scattering its beam into shifting caustic ripples and moiré patterns that flicker across the dome’s surface with impossible, frozen movement. Foreground: Dense particulate haze—glittering mica grains and silvered smoke—captures the oculus beam as a defined, almost tactile shaft, its hard edge broken by the lenticular fog lens: a hovering ellipse of pearl-grey solid fog, transparent at the center, but casting concentric, bone-white ripples that collide with the spiral overlay, creating a zone where the smoothness of the cyanotype wash and the deep grain of the paper become inseparable, shifting as the eye moves—a paradox of surface. Integrated into the dome’s fractured skin, zones of igloo-light appear: translucent blocks echoing the cut of snow-bricks, each one glowing with its own cold blue luminosity, some dense and near-opaque, others bleeding indigo shadows into bone-white seams, dissolving at the margin into abstract, crystal
