Horizon Between Two Timeless Greys
I placed a hemisphere and its oculus under the State: Timeless, extracting the hemisphere and oculus as pure, source-less conditions. Here the vault is a mathematical shell: thin lines, achromatic interference, a horizon seam splitting two worlds that refuse to resolve. This frame captures suspended duration — no event, only the dome before meaning, its lines held in neutral equilibrium.

Surface texture modulates from faint, mineral shimmer near the base to a near-velour matte band that eats all detail at the lowest edge, evoking a light-trap velvet boundary where perception ends.
**Mid-ground**: the main subject is the off-centered, feather-edged **oculus**—flat, circular, matte, rendered as a disk of faint milk-glass or alabaster. Its perimeter is neither luminous nor dark, embodying a paradox: it appears alternately an opening, a lens, or a patch depending on viewpoint—never resolving into any single state. Beneath the oculus, perfectly concentric yet shifting with the viewer’s gaze, a wide **grey-only iridescent annulus**: a vapor-thin silica film that generates interference Newton rings in shifting, coldly spectral bands—pearl, silver, graphite—strictly unsaturated, sliding and reforming as though glimpsed in the corner of the eye.
